My 97 GT has an overdrive switch on the shifter (it's an automatic) but it doesn't seem to work. The car is always in overdrive but there are times I need it out of overdrive. Is there a wire that goes to that switch, or might it be a bad switch? If so, how hard is it to change?

If its like a 99 automatic you first have to take off the shifter knob,
there are 2 tiny allen screws on the front side. Then remove the bezel where
the shifter moves back and forth. I tore the wire loose when I was replacing
the plastic slide that covers the hole. Had to take it back apart and solder
the wire back on, but you can get the switch from ford. Watch for the springs
falling out.
