Sitting here steaming. Power dropped off on the way to work. Made to an exit and checked the codes. P0190 for fuel rail sensor. Also have p1131 and 1151 but I think it went lean due to the low pressure. Car will start and idle for a minute then it runs rough. I think I can rule out the fuel pump so my hunch is the fps or a vacuum line. I've checked the lines and I don't see an obvious break. Anything else I should look at?

Ruptured fuel rail pressure sensor diaphragm. Start by inspecting the intake vacuum reference line for raw gas. Also check for vacuum leaks in the intake vacuum reference line.

Would help to monitor and cross check the fuel pressure as reported by the PCM against and external gauge. We want to see if the PCM reported fuel pressure stays around 40 PSI where as the gauge pressure varies.

I pulled the vacuum line tonight after my wife picked me up from work. Seemed to have good suction and I had already inspected the line as best I could this morning when it crapped out on me. The line looked OK. I took the harness and cleaned it a bit. I got it running long enough to get it to a well lit parking lot. It started acting up again after about a 10 minute drive. After working 12 hours and it was raining I just wanted to get home. I'll drive the hour in the AM and pick up a sensor then.

Weird. I picked up a new sensor and installed it. On a whim I reloaded the tune also but I accidentally loaded the canned GT tune. Was a bit hard to start but ran fine. We stopped to eat and when I got back into the car it had set codes for lack of cats etc. I thought it was unusual but I went ahead and erased them and took off. We drove old 51 and I noticed the speedo was off and realized I put the canned GT tune in. So I stopped and reloaded the custom tune. Fired right up and idles great. Then when I took off it started acting the same way it did yesterday. Eventually dies after about 5 miles so I reloaded the canned tune and drove the rest of the way home. My friend suggested that maybe the fuel filter is clogged and the computer is reading the drop in pressure. Not sure why it wouldn't be the same for the canned tune other than the custom tune may require better fuel pressure?

I'm going to try replacing the filter and see what happens but nothing is ever easy when it comes to me and cars lately.

I just recently had the same issues as you for about a month. i thought i had ruled out my fuel pump also. everytime it would run bad it threw a whole list of codes including p0190 i would erase them retune my car it would run fine for sometimes 1 mile and sometimes a 100 miles. I troubleshooted everything from tps, frps, ignition coils, spark plugs, vaccum leaks. I then replaced my fuel filter and still nothing. Finally i replaced my fuel pump and runs like a champ again. i was told fuel pumps will sometimes go out in stages causing it to run and idle off and on like this. I know it sounds like it would not be the pump because when you retune it does just fine sometimes but i reccomend it. I was also told because of low fuel pressure it would throw all the catalatic codes, to lean codes, and frps code because they are all reading wrong when this drop in fuel pressure occurs. Sorry horrible grammar but hope it helps.

In the end I may change it. It's fairly new so I'm going through the easy stuff first.

Would voltage cause these issues? I know these things are real quirky with voltage. It stays between 13.4 and 13.7 volts while running. Shouldn't be a bit higher? I tried to datalog with the tuner but it isn't running worth a crap right now.

Putting it all together...

Several weeks ago I ran through some high water by the house. Had some sputtering issues but they went away after about an hour on the road. Two weeks ago I thought I lost fuel pressure (it was raining). Pulled a P0190, P1131, P1151. Assumed it was the fuel rail pressure sensor and the lean codes were a result of the sensor acting up. Once the car cooled it would start but as it got to operating temp, it would act up again. Changed the FRPS and loaded the canned GT tune. It ran fine but as I got down the road I realized I loaded the wrong tune so I stopped and loaded the custom tune. It started fine but had no power so I loaded the canned tune and got it home.

I pulled codes and it set them for cats and EGR so those were understandable. I reset them and ran it again. Again it runs fine cold but as it warms up it acts up. Idles rough and no power. With the canned tune and the EGR/O2's off it would set lean codes. Yesterday I loaded the custom tune and now it sets the p0102 (MAF) P0113 (IAT) and the P0190 is back. The datalog shows 0 volts for MAF voltage and INVALID for air flow.

The MAF codes are new but I'm thinking that may have been the problem all along. It just never set the code until now. Does it sound logical that a bad MAF sensor would cause the lean condition under the canned tune and then the fuel pressure under the custom? Like I said the MAF and IAT codes are new but I think that has been a problem all along. I think the MAF got wet and took it awhile but I think it shorted out.

You guys suck.

Anyway...turned out to be bad gas. Fresh tank and a water displacement additive and it's back on the road.

Bad gas causes MAF volts to read zero? I'm not feeling it. Seems like multiple things going on here.

No...forgetting to reattach the sensor lead causes MAF volts to read zero.
