Hey guys, I have been without a Mustang for the last two years and am missing them, so i'm starting to shop again. My question is regarding emissions. I only have visual in my area. Looking at a fox body. I will be driving less than 5K per year so will become exempt, but what about when I first buy a car. I'm thinking I'll end up getting the right one from out of state, so will need an initial inspection. What have you guys done, or where can I go to get a car with its emissions crapola ripped out inpected and emissions tested?? Any tips or thoughts??

THANKS

If its visual it only has to LOOK like it works. It has to have cats, A.I.R. etc. Chances are if it has good brakes, tires, lights, exhaust, glass, and steering components, it will pass. Just sayin. Find a small independent shop, talk real nice and ask him IN PERSON if it will pass without cats and A.I.R. I'd bet if you ask nicely IN PERSON with the car present, you will be fine.

Well what i did, just run a shorter belt, use the longer one for emissions, and i tack welded the heat shields from my stock cats, to make it "appear" that i have cats, which i dont have, passes every year.

+Actually i was told even if its registered as a classic, if it had them from the factory, it still has to have them (cats) still has to pass a exempt visual emissions inspection, just relaying what i was told, please correct me if im wrong.
