you mighty be able to find someone to shoot the car from around $300 and up. The price all depends on the paint, prep work/time and quality. I paid $40 a pint(unmixed) for my paint. 8 pints to a gallon so around $320 for a gallon. You can definately find cheaper paint.

I think the question wasn't how much for the paint.....but for the paint job latamud

You will find that many shops won't even touch your car if they don't do the prep work. Many paints are designed to work with special primers and no matter what you do or say the shop will want to sand off all your pre-done primer and smoother and do it themselves. This also gives them a guarantee that if you aint satisfied...it really is their fault...as apposed to laying down 3 coats of base and 2 coats of clear and then you saying you don't want to pay becuase it looks like crap because it shows all the imperfections in the body work.

Anyway....Macco will spray a car as is for <$800. Some shops out there will still prep and paint and do a decent job in the 2-3k for labor range.

Latamud, did you go to Earl Sheib?

"Earl Sheib will paint your car for $29.95" <--- too bad I didn't make the paychecks I make now back then or I would have painted it a different color every month since that is how often you have to repaint your car from there anyway.

Nick, $300 and up, that was for the paint job. Cheap paint, cheap job. I've painted cars with $30/gallon of paint. Like I said, it depends on the prep work. I know a guy who will paint a car for $300 if everything is already prepped, primered, taped and you provide the paint. He won't waranty the job so you have to make sure you did everything. But I like to do my own work. And when I painted my car I spent around $2000 on my paint job. And a chunk of that was for reusable items like the guns. That'll keep the cost down next time. The price of the paint job is relative to the price of the paint and type of paint. I guess the best answer I can give is shop around.

your not comparing apples to apples ISK... obviously your car is leaning towards a show car side. you have pearl additives and flames and stripes. for a solid color it would be much cheaper. my two colors was around 300 bucks (and some change). my blue had metal flakes added too. it all depends on the color, amount of paint, how many coats, any additives and ect.

Actually I wasnt comparing it to anything.I know what a paint job consist of because I did some of the paint myself.I was just saying what paint cost and you get what you pay for.I have painted several cars before and my materials was NEVER less then about $650,and these werent custom, pearls,or show cars.

a good paint job will cost 10k-20k but thats normally for body work and everything.

A decent paint job over someone elses body work is probably 4-8k

A shiny paint job is probably 700-3k
