So I've always wanted to build a 351W based 427 stroker with Cleveland style heads for my Cobra II - more just for the fact that I can say I have a 427 Cobra than for the power levels that can be achieved. But with the recent thread about a Windsor vs a stroked Windsor (ttps://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/357w-would-you-do-it-again.913823/page-2#post-9221788), I got to thinking a little deeper on the 427 Windsor concept. The II doesn't lend itself to many engines that are much bigger than a 302, but the Fox Mustang has a TON of aftermarket support. So why not install the 427 in a Fox, specifically my vert? The idea I've always had would be to make it a 427 Clevor with Cleveland style heads. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to research the possibilities, so I went to Summit's website and Google and did some searching. Here's what I come up with as a pipe smoking wish list.

Ford Racing aluminum block 427W short block: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m-6009-427a

Trick Flow Cleveland style heads: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-51616204-c00

Trick Flow Clevor EFI intake: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-51600114

Cleveland swap headers: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-85620

Stroker clearanced oil pan: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mor-20520/make/ford

At almost $12k just for all of that, it's a pipe dream but it's definitely doable! Anyone else have a pipe dream wish list?

That aluminum block is cool and I know its a pipe dream, but if the build is just to have a 427 is there not a cheaper option that doesn't discount the dream? Nearly 8K for the block!!

There might be and I'm sure that there is, but I saw the aluminum block and thought that would be awesome! So I figured since it's all a pipe dream anyway I may as well add it to the list. (edit: suggested on the same page, a cast iron block 427w short block - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m-6009-427f?rrec=true)

Another thing I thought of would be a transmission upgrade if all of that were to go down. The T5 would probably be ok for a little bit, but I'd most likely have to upgrade to a TKO or something in fairly short order, so may as well add a new transmission to the list....

I dreamed of having a cheaper alternative to the old engine that was in my car that would require less fabrication, would be easy to modify, and i could just drop it in and go...

It was definitely a pipe dream.

Yours is definitely the road less traveled.... if it's even been attempted before!!

But on the flip side, a bunch of fabrication almost always equates to more money spent, so I'll bet that was a consideration. But I'm sure that once yours is up and running it'll be a little easier on the wallet to maintain. Besides, who else is gonna have one like yours? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a grand total of no one - and sometimes there's no price tag on that.....

Screw that puny OE-style manifold.

If you're gonna pipe dream, let's go all-out and put a manifold on that sumbitch that'll let a Cleveland-headed Windsor Scream above 6000rpm the way such a bastard should!

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-51600112 Get that, it has the bosses for your injectors, then put an elbow on it for your throttle body and UNLEASH that mother once it's wound the hell up.

(I'm in a weird mood today.)

ill tell you now a 220 head is no where near big enough for a 460" motor... like not even in the right ball park

I don't remember who produced the heads in the article I saw, it was a while ago when I ran across it. But since they were brought up here I was just on YouTube and found one SBF with hemi heads on a dyno. It just happens to be a 427 stroker too....
