please help car wont start

I have a 95 mustang. i got in the car this morning to start it and, nothing happened. It sounded like it wanted to turn over it just wouldnt catch. had fuel and the battery was charged fine. checked the fuel pump reset switch everythings fine there. any help would be awesome. this is my daily driver so i am kinda in a bind.

Are you getting spark? If it happened overnight like that its probably something in the ignition system.

mustang wont start

the motor does crank over, i was thinkig it must be something in the ignition. my dad and i replaced the ignition system about a year and a half ago. i believe with a pertronix kit. it contained new wires distributor cap a coil and an upgrade unit on the passenger inner fender. i checked the plug wires and the cap they look fine. the only potential problem is on the coil pack there is a single red wire that goes ito a connector with a black wire that leads to the coil, i am not sure if this is connected fully and i tried pushing the red wire in. any help would be appreciated.

First of all, did you verify your not getting spark?

Check the MAF sensor, unplug just the mass air sensor and try and start the car if it starts and runs kinda rough you have a bad MAF

To test for spark, remove a plug wire from a spark plug (it doesnt matter which one). Put an old spark plug in it and set the threads of the spark plug on the intake, so the threads are touching the metal intake very solidly (this is the ground pathway for your spark). Crank the engine and see if you have spark jumping the plug gap.

If you do, get a noid light at a parts store (5 bucks or so).You put this across an injector connector (again, it doesnt matter which one) and crank the engine. See if the light flashes. If it doesn't, the PIP is likely bad. If the noid flashes but you have no spark, think ignition (coil, TFI module, etc).

You can also try holding the gas pedal down a little bit while cranking. This bypasses the IAC function a little bit. A bad IAC can keep it from starting.

Post up what you find and the smart folks in here can provide more info once we know a direction to go.

more help please

So i went out today and unplugged the MAF sensor and the car started up but ran rough. I had to jump the car because after attempting to start after trying to track down the problem, the battery died. So, if the car runs does that mean i just need a new MAF and if so where can i get one and for how much? thanks for all the help guys.

MAF education

so iwas looking on c&l's website they offer two kits that come with new maf filter and heat shield. part no. 115 and part no. 116. I cannot see any difference between the two except price, any help would be awesome, thanks.

spend 5 bux on a bottle of maf cleaner and try cleaning it first. You just might not need a new one.

soo.. the saga continues

I bought some MAF cleaner went outside and cleaned the housing and filter good, let it dry put everything back together. and my car didnt start. i unplugged the MAF again, and it started right up but a bit rough does this mean i need a new MAF? if so where can i get one and for how much? it would be for a 95 gt stock other than ignition upgrades and no ac. is there anywhere i could get a kit with a new sensor and some kind of cold air induction, as a package? any help would be appreciated.

An aftermarket MAF is overkill for your combo. If you hit a Junkyard, get a 94-95 Mass air assembly (they should all be the same for all the trims). Otherwise, they are about 70-100 bucks for a sensor at the parts stores.

You can also see if a local stanger has a spare for you to try (local car clubs or guys on here whom are local to you).

Then you can buy a CAI or make one, and put your new Mass air assembly in it.

If you have a buddy with the same car you can try his, to make sure thats what wrong with it. If your near Little Rock, Ar. you can try mine.
