ok im a pretty smart guy but i cannot get my dad gum car to start. I just had the motor rebuilt and i put it in and plugged everything in like always. When i tried to crank it, it just wont start. every once in a while it will back fire.. I

ts not out of time, it has fire, it has fuel to the rail, crank and cam sensors are fine, seriously doubt its out of time, wires are right, but it wont start. please give me some ideas. The only thing i can think of is the fuel pump is not pumping when the car is on. please help thanks

Do 98 Mustangs have the passive anti theft system? Is there a THEFT light flashing on the dash?

Did you check the fuel pump? I saw that you thought it may be that

If you have fuel and spark and it won't start then remove the plugs and clean them off really well with some brake clean and then try to start it. Sometimes the plugs will foul out and you will have a no start.
