ok guys wat my car is doing... about almost two weeks ago now my car was running fine and then it started sputtering really bad to the point it wouldnt rev past 2500rpm it would just sit and sputter. if u keep on the gas it will rev up then come down and die. and it was spitting out alot of smoke and smelled like gas really bad . i didnt think it was getting spark ,so i changed the cap and rotor and wires . it started and ran fine for about 8 min. then died and started sputtering really bad again. so then i was told to check my fuel pressure regulator and i smelled gas in the vac line. today i changed my regulator, spark plugs, and put a pressure gauge on it. i also went over my rockers and adjusted them one more then i did a compressiion test and i had 150 psi in all cyl. i started the car and it was fine it was running really good at about 20 psi? "thats really low right? isnt stock like 35-40 psi? "so i started to turn it about and i set it at 38 and it started to sputter again. its like once it heats up it sputters. the car has not been tuned yet but it was running fine for about 3 weeks when i got done with it. wat can it be please help?

Stock fuel pressure with the vacuum line disconnected from the fuel pressure regulator & the engine idling is 38-40 PSI.

If you got 20 PSI for fuel pressure, then fix your fuel pressure problems first before chasing any other rabbits. Possible clogged fuel filter, damaged fuel lines, bad fuel pump, or bad power to the fuel pump.

The compression is good at 150 PSI.

Well, he said he bumped it back up to 38 (which is about right). If everything is set right now .... and it's still doing that ..... I dunno. Try to check your IAC valve.

did you check out your plugs when you changed your wires.if your smelling gas then it aint burning.plugs are prob toast.swap plugs and then determine if its a fuel prob or spark prob.with vacume off you should have consistant pressure at whatever you set it to, say 38,hold the throttle down and watch your gauge, pressure should stay the same.if it drops you gots a prob.if your pressure is unchanged then look elswhere.possible spark issues, good luck
