I have an 05 Mustang Gt its been running fine then all of a sudden the other afternoon i go to leave and it doesn't crank. The weird thing is every thing else works radio, lights,my big speaker, all the dingers that go off when you put the key in every things fine on that end. When you turn the key over it does nothing not even a sound like when your starter has gone bad no click nothing just all the gauges and lights come on like normal .So i plugged the battery charger up to it just in case it was the battery it cranked but my battery has been checked and is good the gauge in the car even shows its fine. It will be fine for a couple days then you go to leave and nothing happens. The weird thing is if you keep turning the key over thinking maybe it will crank the doors start locking and unlocking on there on like its something to do with the factory security system or something. My husband knows about cars and this one even has him confused. He has checked all the wires.....He thought it might be the starter solenoid its not.... He has changed the battery out, checked the alternator not that either.
So does anybody have any idea what it could be?

This sounds like a Security System issue to me. Does the Red Security Light on the dash stay on? Also, have you tried your other key? It could be that the computer chipped key isn't working properly. And of course, have you checked all of the fuses?

Also a thought, even though the starter solenoid checks out, it might be the starter itself. I just changed my wife's and her was fine electrically and all and the starter solenoid clicked over when you turned the key, but the starter was bad. Took it to Autozone to test and make sure and it blew their breaker 3 times! Defintely dead! But this is just a thought, never had a starter go out on the 'Stangs before...

Thanks for the replies
When I went to crank the car today it done the usual it didn't crank but I did notice when I put my key in and turn it to crank it makes a weird noise in like the steering column .... I'm fully convinced it has something to do with the security system when I bought the car in 06 it was from a used car dealership so I only got one key to crank it and the other key that goes in the doors and trunk so I guess I will have to buy another key from the ford place and see if that works.

The only thing that doesn't make since to me if it is a security issue why if you put a battery charger on it and turn the charger to 200 amp start engine why does the car crank then

Does the voltage at the battery terminals read approx. 12.6 V with the engine turned off, 9-10 V with the engine cranking, and 13.5-14.5 V with the engine running? Also, was the electrical system checked for excessive current draw?

Mine did this last friday...went to drive it and it made like 6 clicking noises and thats it.. nothing. Dash lights yes, no dome light, no radio. So I charged the battery. Went out this morning and it did it again!! So I pulled the key out, put it back in and tried it again and it clicked 3 times and then turned over slow...just barely started!! Low on gas so I stopped to fill up...scared to death she wouldnt restart but she did. She has been fine all day....

I think I remember reading on here that between the windows, radio, security, and anything you leave plugged in (rad IPod charging, cell phone, etc) that you can drain the battery in a few days.

I dont know if the '06 has it or not, but in my manual etc. that the dealership gave me they have bar codes. Mark, my sales rep, said if you give them those bar code cards they can cut a key for you out of those. Handy thing to have. You might check and see if you have them, miss, before you go to a dealer. You might even want to go to the used car dealer first and see if it's still 'waranteed' for you, but I would get the key cut at a Ford dealer just to be sure...

Hey thanks for telling me about the bar codes ...I looked in my owners manual and in the side pocket of my little ford pouch thing there are two little bar codes that look like they came from a key chain Thanks so much for the help
