Please predict my MPG......deciding on 5.0 or Civic as daily driver-help

Well, I would love to drive the stang everyday when the it's above 60 degrees.

well here is what I have

Cobra intake
75 mm tb
pullys
borla mufflers
bbk headders
electric fan
160 amp alternator
c & l intake with k/n
3:73
alloy driveshaft
on 18's 245 45 18 front and 265 45 18 rear

oh yeah fiberglass hood. thanx

also heres the civic I am looking at.

I know the civic would be alot less in gas...but I dont want to invest anymore $ in another car. thanx alot guys

or do what i decided to do and get the both of best worlds. buy a stang with a v6

i did but after i turn 18 i want to build a 347 stroker with a supercharger. that or buy a crate motor from ford racing.

yeah I know it will get better gas mileage but how much? I really dont want to buy another car.

can someone please estimate my MPG?

you are looking at about 16-17 around town and 20-22 on the highway, if you drive nicely

the civic will get you over 30 no matter where you drive it

the money you save in gas with the civic will pay for itself in the long run, and leave some $ to play with the stang

if I got back down to 3:27 gears will that improve my mpg by a mile or two? thanx

cvc??? oh brother... why not get a fiesta? i'm still thinking about getting a fiesta cause they get like 40-45mpg. 4cy rangers get about 35mpg, plus then you have something to haul parts in. all else fails p/u a 4banger stang and use for DD and emerency parts donor.

My 2000 Honda Civic gets 30mpg and is a auto so that 5spd will probably get like 35mpg. Id say go with it and keep the miles off of the stang.

sounds good but I dont mind putting miles on the stang cause the parts are cheapper than any import and are easy to find.

I would rather put more money into my stang cause I already have alot invested than another car therefore i am interested in the most mpg's I can get out of my stang.....this is getting tuff trying to decide what to do.

Lets assume that the Civic sells for 5k, and gets 35 mpg. You stang will probably get like 23 or so on the highway. How long will it take to make up 5k in gas for 12 more mpg? Plus the added insurance, maintenance, and repairs? A VERY LONG TIME!! So if you dont want to buy another car, dont, it wont save you anything anytime soon.

I drive an 01 Civic EX as my DD. I get about 37mpg (1.7L VTEC w/ 5 speed).

oh and that doing mostly NH two lane roads at a steady 40-55mph. With the occasional highway every week and almost no city driving.

If you are serious about hooking up your mustang, a true daily driver car will be one of your best mods. It allows you to take your time and fix things right instead of forcing you to be outside in the dead of night trying to rig stuff so you can get to work/school the next day. If you can afford a daily, get one!
