alright i was filling/checking my gear oil and i got the plug back in after some work and made sure it threaded straight, but it is still sticking out of the whole by a thread or two. is this going to be an issue? im not leaking fluid from what i can see, i just want to make sure that its not going to be a problem, cuz i torqed the bolt down as much as i could and it was still sticking out.

The plug is not made to go all the way in. It is pipe thread and if you keep going once snug you may crack the housing or plug will be hell to get out next time you go to check it.

You want to have some of the threads sticking out.... It's going to be a bit$h to get that out again if you really torqued on it.
