Possible AEM and DC Sports products for the modular Mustangs. Your imput please.

If the product is proven on multiple cars and manufactured with quality in mind then I see no reason why I would pass any brand up. I couldn't care less if they made toasters first as long as what they made for my car was of good quality and competitively priced.

Competively priced* and quality would be my determining factors..

* ( Competively priced doesn't mean to over-price it just because you can or think you should...or because you think you have a market base for it.. I bet a lot of guys would buy a new product if it were priced fairly and worked! )

No, we do not need those products. There are already 20 company's making that stuff. We need intakes, heads, bigger valves, better priced bottoms ends(pistons, Conntecting rods, etc), etc. Things that actually MAKE POWER.

Yes correct Manifolds. Engine management systems are only needed on our cars when you start making 600+ to the wheels. That is cool to create a kit but you wouldnt sell all that many. There arent too many 600+ SOHC motors out there using stock anything.

We can put down 500 to the wheels and use a chip without a problem. Fuel system upgrade of course.

A chip is only a set of parameters. If you were able to add/remove fuel and timing at 1/4 1/2 3/4 and WOT, would that not appeal to you. Especially those who do have high horsepower engines.

Yes that would a appeal to me for a certain price but Dyno tunes do the exact same thing. For a person like me who doesnt make much money and doenst changes mods often, I can spend 350 bucks and have my tune perfect with the correct timing and fuel curve through out my power band. Now if I changed my setup often like a pro drag racer then yes a I would want a stand alone fuel management system or a Engine management system.

ya what the modular people need are intake manifolds, not a CAI but the actual intake, aftermarket heads, not ported stockers but an actual different casting made for high performance, cheaper internals. there are a bunch of companies that already make CAI's, catbacks, headers, and a lot of people are pretty brand loyal. AEM and DC dont really have a name for themselves in the domestic world. they are seen as pushing the annoying ricers, at least where i live, and arent thought very highly of (not a flame just saying whats thought here). we really already have the engine management stuff worked out. the Ford computer is fairly easy to tune once you get through the millions of lines of code and there are already companies that offer breakout box type systems where you can reset all the parareters. from my experience i have not seen many CAI's give performance gains that make the money spent on them worthwhile. the only one ive seen that makes noticable gains is the K&N CAI for the 03/04 cobra. one thing that would be awesome is if you guys could develop a X or H pipe that was CARB approved, i know there are a bunch of mustang guys in CA that would quickly buy those up seeing as how there arent any CARB approved ones currently on the market.

i agree, theres already alot of choices in those products.

Are you planning any products for the upcoming '05 Mustang? That might be a good market to get into, being that the car will be totally new and their won't be too many supplying parts at first.

It is also rumored that the '05s computer will limit the ability to mod the engine. This may be a spot where a workaround could be created by your company.

I think that if you supply quality components that supply dyno/track proven horsepower/performance, they will sell. Especially if you are able to undercut the price of companies that are already selling some of these products.

One thing that is a little different is that these company's are coming from the Import scene. This fad, which probably will stay, has made the cost of aftermarket parts for these Sport compact enthusiasts practically nothing. I mean when you can build a Honda motor with 350whp or more for less than 5k, that is really really big difference to us Modular people who struggle finding the best deals on parts without paying an assload. I mean seriously, look at our parts and the price we pay compared to other Mustangs and or Camaro models. Its usually a 150-200 difference yet our cars have been around for over 10 years and it seems recently we have more cars on the road then older models.

These Import heavy companies see us as another market but are selling us the exact same products for the same price. I mean look at SLP. You can get the exact same type of system, MagnaFLow/Pack, for the same price. Why did they not try and under cut them or come out with a much much lower price?? Because they know we will pay that much for a well known brand like SLP. Is it better? no probably not. Hell most Camaro people will tell that SLP has been lacking lately in the quality department.

We need a large company to take a chance and build us some good flowing products that we need. Yeah, my ported heads may be flowing 220 but it cost me a **** load. Now why cant Edelbrock, AFR, Brodix, World Products, etc make us parts that we actually need? If you look at our options, we have over 5 companies for the exact same part. Now that may be competitive on price yet there isnt really much power or performance to gain. 1 or 2 horse doesn't do ****, that is like driving your car on a 90 degree day compared to a 80 degree day.

The Import crowd as it good right now. We will continue to see these guys go faster and faster and make more power leaving us behind until someone tries to make some good products for us. Having 10 different choices for headers is all good but its just a header. We want real power.

AEM is good chit. But if theyr going to be as expensive as they are, I would just go with K&N FIPK

I would buy it. I had an AEM on my eclipse. Loved the thing.

Don't waste your time on any kind of cold air intake, they're worthless.

Headers, that's covered already. Catbacks, same thing. Engine management, very small market for that, the stock computer is powerful enough.

Here's what we need:

New heads, or at least a good price on quality ported stock heads.
Intake manifolds

All about the intake manifold and heads. Its insane to me that trick flow etc. havent decided it might actually be worth taking a look at the 4.6 scene. They are missing out on a huge chunk of business. Perhaps we should start a thread and get a massive petition together or email the crap out of them until they realize theres a market???
