My plan is to do a mild resto mod for a driver that looks good. Something to take the family on cruse nights and date night with the wife.

Waiting on some sheet metal and hopefully find some time to start the rust and frame repairs. Drip rails are pretty much toast so I may shave them. I already have the roof off because of unrepairable rust under a Fiberglass patch.

Debating on whether to replace the quarters or try and patch them. Outer wheel wells have some rust in same area as quarter panels. Has anyone pulled off originals to do the patch and then put back on? Or is that too much?

Still debating on rebuilding the 289 with upgrades or go for a 302. Thinking hard on converting to a 5 speed.

Going to have to replace entire wire harness as all the insulation is brittle and wires are just snapping off.

I did a 260 at first in my 65, but could not get the power from it that I wanted. I had a 95 mustang GT that would not pass smog with all the aftermarket parts on it. I pulled the engine and 5 speed changed it to a carb setup and did the swap. If you do go with a 302 and 5 speed I would recommend a donor car. I got the 95 for $1500, sold the body for $800 and the EFI for $200. In the end I was only into it $500 and it allowed me to pick any parts I needed before I let it go. The only things I had to change to the 5.0 HO was to drill the timing chain cover for a front dip stick, swap the oil pump pick up, swap oil pan and order the 5 speed transmission crossmember kit.

Left side under the car cover is a '66 fastback with a straight 6 and a 3 speed (I'd like to convert this to an automatic so that my wife could drive it). Car on the right is a '66 coupe/fastback conversion. It's had torque boxes, convertible inner rocker panels, convertible one piece seat pan, and partial front frame extensions all done to strengthen the chassis. I need to replace the driver's side shock tower next. This car will be done up so that it is street legal and behaves well on the street but one that I can occasionally take it to Road America. Figure a small block with a 5 speed and I'd like to use the Weber's on the motor. Blue with white meatballs for the paint job.
One in the back of the garage is a '70 fastback that was originally a 302/C4. It's got a rust free body and I have all of the parts for it - got VERY lucky when I scored this one from someone who lost interest. I'm thinking a Boss302 clone on the exterior. Motor & chassis TBD.

I just got my liquid filled hydraulic pressure gauge yesterday. Will hook it up to test the TV cable operation and if everything goes well my old girl may leave the driveway under her own power for the first time in about 24 years!

Here's a very short video from last week with my son doing a hot adjustment on the valves...https://goo.gl/photos/kX7xgayqyRHSTHw28

Several weeks ago being towed for an exhaust

Well she did leave and return to the garage under her own power today. But I have a REALLY soft brake, and a cooling issue to look into fixing before trying an 'around-the-block' excursion.
