I assume my power steering pump is leaking, due to the 4 ft oily slick under my car, and the exposed mechanics I saw inside the pump when I removed the cap, after topping it off 2 or 3 weeks ago. There is also some wetness on the edge of the pumps pulley, and the bracket for the A/C and P/S was all wet and grimy.
If this is the oumo, should I rebuild it w/ new seals, buy from the parts store, or get onefrom the junkyard?
It's really not a huge problem, I just want to make sure it's only a P/S problem and not something I'm missing.
My water was down about 3" in the radiator so I topped that off. I have some slow leaks (lower hose at water pump) that I need to tighten, but the car runs no hottert than 195*, tops, so I'm pretty sure it's mostly p/s...

I bought the new seals for the pump last winter, and so far no more leaks. I replaced the front seal and the o-ring for the tank portion of the pump. I'd try that first.

You can buy new ones or remanufactured units as well. Chances are the internals are worn and ate up the seals. It's your car, do what you want to do but in my opinion it's not worth the headache.
