Predator Live Data Logging Problem

I am having trouble using the Live data logging feature of the Predator Programmer. Here is what I'm doing:

Tun on Laptop, Plug serial cable into Laptop, Plug serial cable into Predator, Turn Car on, Plug predator into OBDII port, run cmr_dat program.

When I do this I get the attempting to 'communicate message' on my laptop, and nothing happens. No PIDS are loaded. No data is logged.

My baud rates are both set to the same value. Com1 is selected. Don't know what to do next.

oh.... sometimes I get a live table failed message on my Laptop.

Hope someone can help. I am going to the trck this saturday and wanted to do some data logging.

I was wrong!! I've never been so happy to be wrong in my life lol.. Time to go outside and wait 2 minutes to see if those PIDs show up

yeah they worded it kinda scamlike in their description.

it IS live data logging, just not connected to your PC and seeing it on the laptop live. it's live in the sense that you can use the Predator to record a run, then connect it to your laptop and upload the file to the viewing software, and check it out offline from the car.

if you wanted to like throw a laptop mount in the car and watch your numbers as you drive, the predator won't make ya happy.

maybe i'm wrong, but i've had mine for a long time now and that is the only kind of logging i've gotten out of it. hopefully i'm just a jackass and someone will correct me and the predator will magically work how i too thought it was going to be

He his!

I've always datalogged with my laptop since you can choose any PID you want and record mutliple runs.

All I do is connect the Predator to OBDII port, plug the serial port connecting it to my computer. Then I start the car(engine is running) then I open CMR_dat. Right away, you'll see on the Predator screen something like Starting datalogging, it will take some time, like 2 minutes or so.

Then once everything is good, all the PID will show up on the left side of CMR_dat.

Be sure that you com ports are correct and that they are set at the same baud rate. Also check the baud rate in Windows, System> Device Manager> Com Ports

This kind of worked. It eems like the software is buggy, because if I had the Pred connected to the laptop everything was ok. Then if I removed it, then reconnected, it would not recognise the predator as being attached. I would have to restart the pc then reconnec the pred.
