I bought a predator from a friend that does normally work.

I plugged it in and it removed my stock progam. I then tried to install the custom tune. It told me to turn the ignition on but do not start car. I did. Then turn it off. I did. Then it said turn ignition on (did not say do not turn car on) so I did not try to turn it on and just turn the ignition on. The programmer said something about it could not complete the install because the ignition was not on. It told me to unplug it.

I unplugged it and waited about 15 sec. Plugged it in and started the whole process over again. This time I tried to start the engine when that part came up again. AND the car would not start. As I tried to start the car the programmer turned off and back on again and started back at the begining.

Now when I plug it in it ask me if I want to install the back up tune. I try to and it does the same thing as before.. WTF

Now my car is a driveway ornament.....

Anybody who can offer help would be greaty appreciated..:SNSign:

It happen once or twice to me also. Always managed to re-install the stock tune and start the car. Then I re-intalled the performance tune.

You may want to post here. There's a Diablo guy that answers most questions. http://www.modularfords.com/forums/diablo-sport/

Do you have to remove the fuel pump relay prior to flashing w/ a Predator, or is that just with a Superchips handheld?

One more thing - I know that my Superchips manual says that it may switch your PATS into "Theft Mode." This thing must've been made by Microsoft... It says to unplug the battery for 30 minutes & try it again. So pretty much a reboot.

I'm not sure if the Predator does the same thing, but it can't hurt to try...

The reason they have you pull the fuel pump relay is so you don't have the pump running while programing, that turns into a mess when the battery dies during programming.

my guess too, what was the battery voltage at,hook up a battery charger when flashing the car, just keep it on the low setting, mine works like a champ except when voltage is low

Something like this happened to a guy I know. It turned out he had a chip. Make sure this is not the case for you.

From the way the above reads to me it sounds like you are starting the car before the tune is loaded.

There is no time while the Predator is loading a tune to your car that it should be started. The only time it would be started with the Predator plugged in is for Data Logging.

Well thanks for the info guys. I plan on calling diablo this morning.

Just to reply to some of you guys.

The programmer was unmarried from the original car.

I did try to start the car but it wasn't working before I tried that.

I bought the car used and don't know for sure if it hs a chip in it. Need to check!

Ok so I decided to check if my car has a chip before I call diablo.

I found the ecu. Its behind the kick panel on the pass. side, right? I found two wires hanging down by the ecu. One red and one black. Both have male end plugs. I can't see were they come from but they are hanging down about 6 inches past the ecu and are taped to the side of the ecu. They are thin wires.

I don't know how to remove it though. There are a bunch of plugs down by the bottom of it. Would any of those need to be unplugged? How do I actually get it out of there? Are there any precautions I should take?

I had not seen that article. The most informative thing I have read. Thanks so much. I think I'll go in the drive way now and crank my timing up.

Thank you again

Yea, it should've been stickied a long time ago. I have it bookmarked and usually paste the link when it seems like someone could learn from it.
