Alright guys, I've decided to resurrect the FOTM idea. I'm hoping the Mods will step in and make this official. I would like to propose the following:

1) A voting thread be created each month on the first of the month and the winner be declared on say the 8th. (This will allow ample time for voting and give each winner four weeks to bask in the sun).

2) A sticky be created in which the winners pics will be showcased along with info about the vehicle. This sticky should not be open to any other posts! (I don't want this to turn into a runaway thread) Previous winners shall be showcased also.

3) As far as voting goes, you cannot nominate yourself and a winner cannot be nominated again for a period of at least 12 months.

I think the sticky is vital if we are to maintain interest in the idea and keep from skipping months. If we could get a mod or someone to be in charge of creating a separate voting thread every four weeks, that would be great too. Maybe we can even vote on a fox of the year and perhaps give out some prizes, even if it's just a custom t shirt or something. Thoughts?

I think it's a good idea. I liked it when it was around for a month or two before and thought it was pretty cool. I say we try it again.

Just hang loose sports fans...

Ragtop will be your contact. He will fill you in on the details.

I will tell you though, that staff will not be running this idea. You all will. There will be no sticky for the voting threads, and no staff created polls. You guys create the threads, set the rules of the contest, and create the polls.

What we will provide is a single sticky in which we will copy the pictures and images from the posts containing the selected winner from your voting threads.

Have fun!

Ok guys (and gal) as Daggs said you guys will be in charge of this. I will create a sticky for the winners. As far as what is put in the sticky give me some ideas. I was thinking name, date, and pics of the ride. Let me know what y'all think.

someone needs to define all the rules for voting and being nominated i think .

??

if your nominated this month can you be nominated the following month, even though you were in the final run off.

how many pics of you car can you post

how many post or how long have you been on s-net to be eligible

how many ppl can you nominate in a month

previous winner can't be nominated again--- or can they

We just need to set the ground rules nothing serious.

You can nominate as many people as possible.

Can't vote or nominate yourself.

Nominations on the last day of every month. Voting starts on the first till the fifth then the top three will be voted on till the eighth.

Only four pics per car.

Winners are no longer eligable to be nominated.

All winners will be running for fox of the year.

Maybe even a Stangnet calendar?

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of having cars be nominated by others. Do this at the end of the month (maybe give 5 days or so to nominate). Then a thread announcing the cars, where pictures and info can be given. I say limit it to 2-5 exterior, and interior and an underhood if possible. This will be the poll, and I dont think there should be much posting on this thread other than pictures of the cars and bumps to the top. The poll stays open for 5-10 days, and then the winner is announced. Then the winners car goes into the sticky. The non winners are then elligable for the next one (with no limit on cars, telling them they have to wait will kill the car counts for the next ones).

Sounds like a good idea to me. ONE person posts the threads, and then they are locked at the end of the period.

Cool guys, I like the feedback. The sticky should contain pics and info of the ride (i.e. history, mods, restoration detail, plans for future, etc) and maybe a brief bio on the owner. I like the idea of allotting five days for nominations and three days for the poll. I think winners should be eligible to be nominated again after a 12 month period. A lot can happen in a year and we want to keep continued interest in the idea. All non winners can be nominated again the next month and you cannot nominate yourself. Anyone that's registered on stangnet is eligible. All winners will be running for fox of the year. I don't see why you would want to nominate more than one ride a month but I guess it won't hurt. Also, the calendar is an awsome idea! Can we agree on this? Anything I left out?

Once again, staff isn't going to set the ground rules for the contest but I see the potential for nominations becoming convoluted if people can nominate more than one entry per month.

IMO, each person that nominates should nominate the ONE car he or she thinks is the best for that month. It's not to say that they have to vote for the car that they nominated though.

If one person nominates 12 separate cars then what's the point in having a nomination at all? Pick those cars that you like the best. Nominate the one that you think is most deserving (prioritize) and save your other nominations for the following months.

Just my opinion.

I agree one nomination per person... Having 50 cars each month would suck... maybe limit it to a certain number?

Limit the number of nominations per person or total? If you limit the total nomination then who would determine which nominations make the cut? You'd likely have to have two votes.

I think limiting the nominations to one per person should hlep bring the cream to the top.

What are you guys gonna do if the entry requirements are not met? i.e. there's only one pic, or no bio, or not enough information listed about the car etc.?

How much time do you give nominees to provide the pics/information?

I was just thinking of that. Some of the rides don't have many pics to go with them.

How about this...

One person runs it? Let anyone nominate one car only and with the nomination they have to provide one picture of the car. when that persons car has been nominated the person running it PMs the owner, lets him/her know and then they have 5 days or so to provide pics and information. Then thenew thread is made and the owners provide the specs and photos. Have a way to provide the info thats orderly (ex

Engine:...
Interior:...
Performance:...

Then you vote for 5-10 days or whatever everyone agrees on. Then the winner is exempt from being nominated for the year, and the rest can be renominated.

If the car only has one picture, then how can it be a best of anything? Not trying to be mean but I wont judge how great a car is by one picture. You need to see the whole package (my opinion). If the person can't provide this, then my guess is the car should lose the competition. If the owner doesn't chime in in time, and someone wants to step up and post some pics or info that they can prove to be of the car I say allow that, but most of these people should be able to be reached, correct?
