It is not the amount of stress. It is the amount of stress over time. It happens to bicycle frames and forks and they are under a lot less stress than a driveshaft I would imagine... One day your fork just shatters, it can be quite painful...

So you're saying that an aluminum driveshaft is larger in diameter than the stock steel one? I have 2 1/2" Magnaflow catback and plan to get their X-pipe.
