These are the 190cc versions, sent to me by Jim at tri state. I spoke to him for a while, and he had lots of good things to say. He does the machine work and assembles them. I think one of the reasons many people complain of thier lack of quality is because they buy them bare, (THEN YOU HAVE TO DO THE MACHINE WORK ON THEM). The fit and finish is excellent. I'm using crane 1.6 rockers, and the geometry is on. Checked piston to valve clearance for the custom lunati cam I just got, and it checks out fine. I tried to get some up close detail of the ports and chambers, but my camera wont foucs very well.
All in all I am very pleased with them, and hope people will stop bashing them as "junk". (I tossed in a pic of my intake with new 30lb.hr venom injectors)
Any questions?

$874 shipped....No flow #'s, he flow's the 210's, but not the 190's...They are supposed to flow very well, and wern't recomended on a 302, unless it's going to haved forced induction...

Another reason not to listen to the "he said, she said, my friend said, my step fathers cousin's aunt said" bull ****. Don't speak unless you have first hand experiance with products.

No, thier more suited for a stroker. Or a 302 with a BIG cam.
Also there was an issue with the intakes not bolting up right, well I just mocked up mine and it was spot-on. (trick flow)

I have owns and I have flowed benched them my self next to a set of AFR 165s. I ordered a set of Pro comp 190s and whenI got them I was very disappointed with the quality. The heads them self when you get them need cleaning up in the ports, there are alot of uneven spots in the runners and blots of metal in them. I had trouble getting the roller rockers to line up with the valve and push rod. I have flow numbers, keep in mind this is my flow bench at 15inchs of vacuum not 30 like lots of company's do to get the big selling numbers. They flow right at 216 cfm @ 6000 lift compared to the afrs that flowed 237 @6000 lift, on my bench. When I got the Pro Comps set next to my New AFRS I was for sure that the Pro comps would out flow the AFRS just from the looks because the ports are twice as tall and wider but the bench tells all. My 2 cents on those heads are that thier Junk, theres not even any more room or any way to port them to try to improve them. Sold them on Ebay.

Just wondering...does Jim at Tri-State maybe clean them up a little before selling them, so when you order through him you get a perfect match?

That's exactly the case. I've heard lots of statments like stooges, but the fact is it's where you get them from that makes or brakes them. Pro Comp sells ONLY bare castings.

They ship them to distributers, then it is up to them to assemble them, or pass them on bare. The castings BARE are not the best, that's why buying them through a place that knows what they are doing is a big part of the deal.
Properly done, they will outflow the afr's. I actually just found out that the 190cc's are actually 195cc's. (From tri state anyway) If the distributer decides to assemble them then sell them cheep (like many of the "ebay stores") it usually has had zero machine work done. Again this can lead to the problems commonly associated with Pro Comp heads.

Good post!! the "Pro Comp" is a head mfg in China as an edelbrock knock off!! then sold thru an Austrailian company!! as with any China reverse engineered parts ( the typhoons for example) there seems to be some ruff surfaces, that can be cleaned up!! and as said, when you buy a BARE head.. there is a lot of work to do on them!! But if you can offset the finished product vs the cost of a set of heads that flow AS much or even less!! It is a total DEAL!! The company that you buy the finished head from, IS the reason for the bad rep!! IMHO !!

Yes, there is a lot of power from those heads.. and yes, if the correct guide plates arent used they might be off a little ( look at the early trick flows..) IF you have the time and knowledge.. the New Pro-Comp heads can make a lot of power for less money !! But then that is

Just me...........................................

One of the key problems from an engineering aspect is port volume vs. flow. The best heads get great flow numbers with small port volumes. The small ports mean that the port velocity is high and that makes for better engine throttle response.

The Pro Comp heads with a 190 cc + port volume and flow numbers below 220 cfm don’t look that good when you take the port flow velocity into consideration. As stooges701 compared them to AFR's and they don't look so good.

That brings us back to the proverb, “You get what you pay for”. Buy some Trick Flows. Edelbrocks or AFR heads and save the cost of having them cleaned and machined.

I don't want to buy trickflow/afr/edelbrocks, I just got these...
I do agree, the mid throttle response may not be as good as a smaller runner head (I can't actually comment on how they PERFORM since I haven't driven the car with them yet) But they will be fine for what I intend to use them for, WOT high rpm/nitrous. There the larger runners will flow more air, and I get what I wanted. They may not be for everyone, but What my combo calls for, I think they will work well. Time will tell, and I'll be sure to let :SNSign: know how they WORK when the car is ready.
