Hey guys,

I was looking on ebay for some new rims (and tires) for the stang. My parent's are hinting I am going to get some new tires for my college graduation present.

I came across a few interesting links on ebay but I'm not quite sure about the seller's honesty. What is better... chrome or polished aluminum? I love the look of chrome wheels but people have told me it chips easily. True or false? What is "black chrome?"

Also, I'm not lookin to spend a whole lot of money on these, anything is better than my waffle wheels. Plus, when I have money for the stang, I don't want to be putting cosmetic things on it. I like the look of the '03 cobras, even though they are very common.

Finally, Mike (Oink) let me know how much you are selling yours for and do they come with tires? Thanks!

Jess

You're probably better off getting the chrome wheels. It's easier to clean them in my opinion, and they are much shinier. Unless you drive in snow or something I don't think pitting or anything should be a problem as long as you keep the wheels clean regularly. If you go on AFS wheels website it says you can buy their polished wheels with or without a clear coat on them. I don't know whether or not the ones that guy is selling have the clearcoat.

Black chrome is just chrome but it is black.

if you get take off wheels from an 03/04 cobra, get chrome, it shouldnt peel with OEM wheels, they are pretty good quality. I havent had any problems with mine anyway, they are OEM and they are great

I put AFS 03 cobras on my car 3 weeks ago. I ordered them shipped with 275/40's already mounted, and some locking lug nuts.

Shipping was very fast, they were very easy to deal with, and the wheels are excellent quality and finish. I highly recomend them.

This is an old thread but if you havn't bought them yet consider the machined face. I have the chrome ones but I've seen a cobra with the machined face and it looked cool. I liked how the cut outs are darker than the face of the rim.

Jessica, My chrome Tribars were 8 years old and the only places they peeled was where the weights were put. NOW, we use stick on weights, and the chroming is better. Polished wheels are hard to keep nice.

I had polished wheels, I thought they were alright, I switch to chrome for a diffrent style and that I was tired of them going dull and needing polishing (they wernt that old either 18" cobra Rs). Anyways I love chrome I will NEVER own a polished wheel again EVER..

I have bought from AFS Wheels before.

I bought 2003 Cobra Replica machined surface wheels. I had them for only about 6-8 months and I did experience some slight peeling on the outer lip but thats the only place it occured.

They are good wheels but I dont know if my experience is common, just lettin people know the truth.
