I have a 96 mustang with all the bolt on and PI intake. Well just recently I had to replace my fuel pump. So I went with the Holley High Pressure pump, in anticipation of getting a blower soon. That will come later.

Right know though my car seems to be sucking gas by the barrel. I mean I literaly got like 90 miles on a tank last week.

So I'm assuming that the new High pressure fuel pressure pump is giving me too much pressure. Now I do have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Where should I have it set at considering my mods. And do I do this with the vacuume tube on or off. Getting my fuel system right is not my specialty. Oh by the way the injectors are the stock 19's.

So if some one could enlighten me on the subject at hand I would be very grateful.

Thanks, CLINT

Check your pressure. 38-42 base should be where you want to be at with the vac line OFF. I say should as every car is different.

FWIW. Your running rich has nothing to do with your pump, as your car has a return style system. So any unused fuel goes directly back to the tank. Your issues is in your regulator.

Does the car throw any codes? For it to burn through that much gas it much be running rich as hell. Any vac leaks?

Ya see thats what the problem is and is why i'm baffled about this reguarding the return style fuel system. And I definitly have no codes.

And another thing I pulled 2 spark plugs from each side and inspected them and they seem to look great.

You know one thing I was thinking was that when I replaced the fuel pump I removed everything from the tank and maybe the fuel level float or sensor got a little beat up and is giving me bad readings? Maybe? I still dont have provisions for checking the fuel pressure for at least a couple days.

I guess it's I good thing I'm not working right now so I dont acually have to drive.

Anyway I've done wrote too much and am still open to suggestions.

Thanks, Clint
