Hey bros I am planning on purchasing a set of Corbeau Legacy racing seats for my 02 GT. One question i have is whether i can use the stock seat belts. Does the seat belt attach to the mounting bracket on the stock seat or is it attached to the seat itself?

Just buy a pair of spaco Harnesses. They sure do keep you in your seat when going through those twisty turns. trust me.

The factory seatbelts bolt directly to the body of the car so for day to day driving you don't have to worry. HOWEVER if you go to the track, aftermarket seats require aftermarket belts(4 point minimum). Also some seats have such large side bolsters that they interfere with the factory belts. Post some pics when you've got it done.

Some of the newer seats (leather seat I acquired from stangparts.com) bolt the seat belt bracket on the seat itself, not on the frame. I went ahead and removed the one bolted to the seat.

I know for Cobra(not the Ford Cobra but Cobra brand) seats, they make a bracket that lets you retain the seat belt(female) that bolts directly to the seat. I would just ask a Corbeau rep on that one.

Yes they work.I put the corbeau cr1 in my 02.They mount to the seat bracket. From what i have read you don't want to put a harness in with out a rollcage. You need to have the belts mounts above your shoulders otherwise in a rollover accident you may do serious damage to the spine.

I have the Corbeau CR1's with the Corbeau brackets. The female recepticle mounts to the bracket (I used the old ones from the back seat). I still use the factory seat belt during daily driving. It will rub on the seat a bit but not too bad. And it is a PITA to turn over and grab the seatbelt when you sit in the car. I typically stretch over and grab the seat belt before I close the door.

I also did a rear seat delete and mounted 4 point harnesses. I mounted them where the female recepticles were mounted, which is not the ideal situation but it works fine. The vacant hole underneath the rear seat delete cover is a good storage space for the 4 point harness. I am planning to cut slots into the cover so that I can use the harness without taking the cover off (although I installed hinges on the cover aswell so that it can be tilted up).

I used the same mounting holes on the side of the seats for the 4 pint harness. I replaced the bolt on the out side with an eye bolt that the harness snaps into. It takes me about 2 minutes to change from regular seat belts to the 4 point harness.

I only use the 4 point harness on the track though.

They will work but...

they will work with the stock seatbelt, it bolts to the frame of the car, but the stock seatbelts may start to tear through the side of the seat after a while, you will be better off getting a set of harness's, but you'll need a roll bar or harness bar to mount the harness's, you'll be fine for a while, but I would save up for a harness bar or roll bar and harness's
