my friend is selling his 306 block with keith black pistons in it. stock compression, e cam, 4500 miles on block and all. He lost 2 pistons in the motor, unsure why, but cylinder walls are still perfect, no damage at all. Now i was wondering, if I purchased the block off him, do i have to replace all 8 pistons, or just get the specs of those and buy 2???? thanks in advance.

take it to a machine shop and have the cylinder walls checked out , they will need to measure everything to insure its ok ....

If there is truly no damage to the piston walls, and it is fairly low mileage since it was rebuilt, replacement pistons should work O.K. Just make sure there is no damage to the rods as well.
