Greetings from an excited new owner of a 2004 yellow S-281 SC with only 5000 miles on the odometer. Like many of you, I'm sure, this was a car I lusted after for many years. I have had some good experience with other high performance cars in the past including a 98 Corvette and a 95 Porsche Carrera and look forward to similar experiences with this new car.

Anyway, I do have some questions regarding the car as I am still getting used to it. Bear with me as I slowly gain more knowledge about the car.

First question pertains to the supercharger pulley. The dealer (not a Ford or Saleen dealer) indicated that he believed the first owner put a smaller supercharger pulley on but had nothing to verify this. The pulley has Saleen markings on it but no part number or size marking. Is there a way of verifying what size pulley it is? My concern is that if a smaller pulley was put on I may have to worry about a new fuel pump, injectors, tuning, etc. The engine feels like it is running without problems but do I have to worry about blowing my engine up already?

Second, the center exiting exhaust it from Magnaflow. Was this the standard exhaust for 2004 Saleens?

I'd attach photos for everyone to drool over but I don't own a digital camera and don't have a working home computer (I'm at work now).

Thanks in advance for all the help,

Brian

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome.Your exhaust sounds like the standard setup for 03-04.As far as the pulley goes if your over 8lbs of boost it has been swapped out. When mine was stock I had a little detonation above 5k rpm even with the stock tune.So if it has been pullied and not tuned you would probabley hear some pinging.

If it has the saleen markings on it it's the stock pulley... you should see 7 to 8 lbs of boost. If it's a aftermarket pulley you would see around 10 lbs of boost..
now start adding parts....

The exhaust on the 04 Saleens have a Magnaflow catback with the center exhaust that comes standard. They did not come standard in 03.

Guys, thanks for the quick replies. I, too, am starting to believe that I have a stock pulley which is just fine by me.

Thanks again,

Brian
