i just finished putting the tcp manual rack on my 65 coupe...anybody have suggestions on an easy and good way to do an temp alignment so i can drive her to a shop? thanks
Here is my down and dirty quick measurement technique that is only good so you can drive to get an true alignment.
I take a 2 foot level and attach a couple of "L" brackets to it using tape or a clamp. The L's need to be the same length so that they stick away from the level equally. The distance between the L's will be the distance of the beed of the rim and they must hold the level away from touching the tires.
Back the car up a few feet and then drive forward, applying the parking brake to a stop. Check the up and down levelness using the level. Adjust to level, and repeat my moving the car and readjust as necessary.
As to toe-in, I use a broomstick on both the front and rear of the tire tread. Find a similar tread, or the outer edge of the tire, and compare. Make it toe in just a little (maybe 1/8-1/4" max.)
