Do our cars have 2 or 4 o2 sensors? I went to autozone to get new o2's and the guy asked me before or after cats after I told him the year/model of the car. I got the after cat ones but I don't even see o2's after the cats. Do we have them? Also the haynes manual doesn't say anything about them. And if we don't have any...can I use these in the front as well or do I need different kind of o2's? Thanks guys,

We have 2. But we have 4 cats. On the 96+ 4.6L they have four. Ours are before the cats which is why we don't need MIL eliminators when getting offroad pipes like they do for the 4.6s.

if he sold u some thinking they are like the 96+ stangs the back ones will not work, u will need the front o2 sensors for it to accurately read the air fuel ratio. the back ones only read the change in readings from before the cats to after the cats. to make sure the catalytic converters are doing there job. u will want to get the forward o2 sensors.

You want the ones that go "before the cats"

The ones that go after the cats are for emissions output monitoring only. That is why the OBD-II cars don't need an emissions check for 5yrs.
