When I bought my 94 gt, the person(s) before me took the door dome light sensors out from the doors (probably so it wouldn't bother them or something) now I want them in...Napa has been no help, since I don't have the originals. Could someone give me a part number I could give them? I've been searching with no luck yet.. If I do find something, I'll make sure to post it here...but for now, no luck.

Thanks,
jwater7

You could try looking at 50resto.com or go to a junkyard and pick one up.

Thanks for the reply..

Unfortunately, I don't have any junkyards for a long way where I am.. I gave 50resto.com a try, and searched for door switch, but it didn't come up with anything useful.

Hmm, Might try autozone or something. See if they can order the part. I looked around on JCWhitney.com and couldn't find it.

no audio places around here with door switches...

I checked autozone.com...it says that they don't have that part for a 94 mustang.

It seems that finding a simple part like this is getting a bit harder than I though it would be. I have a last resort (to get it from Ford) but they're so darn expensive and I've had other bad experiences with them, so I don't want to give them my business. In fact, I'm not even sure if *they* have the part either, but probability is high.

Anyway, thanks again for the comments.

Been fiddling with this for several weeks now. I finally got napa to find the right part for me, but they don't have it, and they can't order it because nobody in the nation has it.

Still haven't got ahold of ford about it...but I think that they will probably be able to get it for me.

I'd love to know if anyone else could get it, but if that's not possible and I get too impatient in the next few days I'll order it from ford (who will want 3x the price of anyone else).

Thanks for the help though.

Well if it is an obsolete part, which i find hard to believe because i'm sure it was used on several models, have your ford dealership try to use they're part locator. I had to have me local dealr do that when i repainted my car for a complete lockset and i supposedly got one of the last 5 in the country.

okay, well I called ford and asked for the part number. They gave me:
SW-2517

I called napa, and they didn't have a reference for it.

I went to schucks to see what they had. They don't have a cross-referencing tool, so I just did a search on the model. I found 2:
Niehoff Ignition DJ37831 http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDet...IE&MfrPartNumber=DJ37831&PartType=405&PTSet=A
GP Sorensen JS43 http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDet...e=GPS&MfrPartNumber=JS43&PartType=405&PTSet=A

Can anyone tell me if these are the same part as the SW-2517? They cost like $5, where ford wants $20 (which is absolutely ridiculous for a simple switch). Or now that I have the part number, an alternate place that will let me search for what I want?
Thanks.

well, I finally broke down and bought it from ford....it looks suspiciously like some ones I saw at napa, so I'd bet that they would work. I installed the switch, and now my [key in ignition]/[lights on] "bong" works. That may start to get annoying. Anyway, thought I'd share my progress. It turns out that it was better to get it through ford, because it also comes with a little surrounding plastic peice that I didn't notice was broken on there.

cheers.
