Rack and pinion Leak

Rubber seal around bolt is leaking was wondering if you could just buy the seal and not the whole kit

They take special tools to repair. If yours is an original unit, consider finding a local rebuilder to repair it. Unfortunately, the aftermarket units are hit or miss at best, and usually make a pretty drastic change to the steering feel of your car.

So you cant just loosen that bolt and remove the seal and put a new one in?

The rack bellows is simply there to keep dust out. If you remove it, there is another seal that contains the hydraulic fluid for the rack. Those seals go bad, but they are not replaceable without special tools.

The number one reason people replace the rack is because it is leaking. If it were as simple as putting a seal in it, then no one would bother. Unfortunately, it's a little more involved than that

Alright thanks for the info. I'll just try stop leak for a temporary fix
