Hey all fellow Stangers!

I'm here in SoCal and was driving through Westhills on the 101 yesterday. I spotted an '05 GT merging on to the freeway next to me, so being the curtious driver I slow down to let him catch up. He cought up and kept going doing a flyby, I was hoping he would come up and pace me.

I dropped to 3rd and eventually realed him in, don't know if he was trying to get away...not much for after market parts for him yet I guess. We gave each other thumbs up and went on our merry way.

Huge Ford dealership there in a rich neighborhood; was that just a test drive or do people own these '05's already? Sorry, been out of touch with the latest on the new models...so I'm a noob to the '05 updates.

The 05 stang does not go into production until Sept 7. As of today there are about 180 protptypes and pilot production '05 stangs in existance. What you saw was most likely one of the following.

1. A test mule prototype being driven by a Ford engineer or exec.

2. A car that is on loan to a member of the media for review.

3. A test drive clinic car, see stories about test drives here on StangNet.

4. A car that is being used as a show car at a mutang related event.

Must have been a pre-production model. They aren't scheduled to start production until September 7th.

EDIT: 351CJ, you beat me to it by one minute!

Ford does a lot of testing and tuning on public roads towards the later stages of a new model's development. So cal is one of their spots. It's entirely possible and even very likely.

That's as real as it gets dude. Are you calling BS on me?
It happened and I just wanted to share it without getting flamed.

That statement was ignorant. He didn't say he was drag racing it, just that the driver was enjoying it (wouldn't you if you got to drive one?) There have been spy shots of test mules with cameo driving around city streets for more then a year now. Lots of others have said they have seen them. If he had said he got to drive one or something I might be doubting him but not just for saying he saw one on the street.

Thanks for the support guys. Look at my history of post you can see I have no intention of BSing. Didn't think I would have to prove anything, I thought it wasn't uncommon when I saw it...but now I see it IS a rarity.

Think I'll take a trip to the dealer in that area and see if I can dig anything up...ha...now I bring my Digital camera w/ me everywhere.

If you don't want flamed, don't post on this BS site. Most of the members on here are haters, who show their jealousy by calling BS on everything they didn't do themselves.

I'll bet you saw the car in Agoura Hills on the 101, somewhere between Reyes Adobe and Silverlake Rd? They are doing a Focus group test at the Renaissance Hotel in Agoura Hills.

I was one of the test drivers you saw(Here's the thread- 05 Test Drive -it will help explain my first comment) Did you see the black V6 or the silver/blue/whatever GT?

Personally, I don't find this site to be "BS." I also don't find people being excessively flamed. Sorry that you had a bad experience. I suppose I have been fortunate in finding a lot of knowledgable people on here; friendly too! Of course, you come across the typical A-hole now and again, but I haven't found it to be excessive.

As far as the original post, I too, raised an eyebrow at first. Then after a couple of seconds, recognizing it's just a month away from Job 1, I realized that it is a completely plausible incident. I believe him. As for people being jealous. Well, I'm jealous. Wish I could get up next to an 05. I'll get my chance sooner or later so, it's the friendly kind of "oh-man! You did that!?" kind of jealousy.

Are they still doing the focus group test? Thats right down the street from me. Maybe Ill drive by at lunch if its still going on and see if there is anything to take a picture of. JD Power is out here in Westlake so maybe it has something to do with it.

It sounds like they are still testing. ANother guy from work did it last week.

They are at the Renaissance Hotel(formely Raddison Hotel) at Reyes Adobe exit. THey are in the parking lot in the SE corner behind the hotel. If there are orange cones up there,(or the cars obviously), they are still there.

I saw one out at the Sacramento Airport yesterday. It was a black GT, and I wasn’t much impressed personally. Parked my Cobra next to it and the GT didn’t look nearly as mean, but I guess I’m bias. I wouldn’t say it looks bad at all; it just struck me as somewhat bland in style and not a muscular stance, especially seeing them both together.

Just looking at it I felt it had more cheep looking plastic parts and not so good build quality, but I didn’t get in it just looked through the windows.

Yeah, it was in Agoura Hills on the 101 and it was a blue GT. If it was you, you would probably remember...I gave you thumbs up and you or someone else returned the gesture. All I can remember of the driver is dark hair.

As far as the rudeness on this forum....you can't avoid them anywhere you post, but I must say I get more support and maturity in the SVT forum. But the majority here is backing me and I appreciate that.

Like I said earlier, I didn't realize it was such a rarity to see one. Here in SoCal you'll see Ferraris, Lamborghinis...and all kinds of cars without really raising an eyebrow. But now I do feel privileged.

Too bad he didn't pace you for an honest pull through a gear or two. Otherwise, it's always just conjecture, as you never know what the other person is really doing. I know that I've been "smoked" on numerous occassions where the guy who "reeled me in" didn't realize I wasn't even beginning to dip into the boost and had no inclination to really race. Not that you're one of those people, as you made it quite clear that you really couldn't tell what the '05 driver was up to exactly. Fun story though, wish he would've given you a line-up.
Roushman, take it easy, I apologized on that other thread, and I think you overreacted a bit to some of my comments that were not intended to be directed specifically at you or anybody else on this forum. Of course, there's several others you may have a gripe with too, but I made my apology. No hard feelings. It just gets hard to pick the fly $hit out of the pepper sometimes on this forum, so every once in awhile somebody gets pounced on who may have not really deserved all that.

Ha! Yeah, I read ya on that. I'd hate to be accused of any Ricer maneuvers, by chasing people down and claiming victory.
I thought being I was in the same ballpark HP wise he would've wanted to play a little.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll get my fill if not too much when they are released.
