So after running out of fuel it seems I can't get the fuel pressure back up!

I've already replaced the fuel filter and checked to ensure there was fuel flow with a priming pulse (which there was).

I removed the fuel pressure sensor to ensure there was fuel at the rails...and there was.

Of course, because there is no pressure....nothing comes out after removing the sensor immediately after priming.

I attempted to clamp the return lines with some pliers while the wifey primed it a few times....and again, no pressure. I'm not sure I squeezed it hard enough...but I would think even the slightest amount of restriction would increase fuel pressure?

So all I'm left with is the Kirbin AFPR, sock and fuel pump.

Is it possible to suck up enough crap on an empty tank in the sock to not allow the system to pressurize properly? You would think that after 10-20 priming pulses with fuel flow that the fuel pressure would rise at least a little bit....even with a clogged sock!

maybe the lack of fuel burnt the seals in the pump up?

+1....probably killed the pump and even though it's priming, it's not getting the pressure it needs

Agreed about the pump. Fuel lubricates and cools it.

When you pull it, you can do a volume test on it.

Update:

It turned out to be the damn rubber fuel hose blowing off of the pump again!!! I tested it out...and sure enough, it was fine!

I ended up swapping out the fuel pump with a newer one just because I already had purchased it. It turns out I hadn't even run out of fuel in the first place!

Yeah, I replaced the whole pump/hose assembly! Seriously though, the new style pump has a retention ring/barb on it to secure the hose propely with a clamp. The old pump had no such feature....so it relied soley on the clamp. Of course, with the new hose it's a moot point.
