1/8th mile track Brainerd Optimist in East Ridge TN

Nice and cool out little or no humidity.

I am not surprised by my times but I was really hoping to be in the high 8's.

Reaction: .953
60': 2.159
330': 5.960
594': 8.542
1/8th: 9.126 @ 77.06

1st gear popped out on me twice at redline. I believe my clutch may have been slipping on take off on the last couple of runs but am unsure.

Car has 24lb injectors (not the 21lbs...looong story) w/ calibrated Pro-m, 70mm TB, off road-h, flowmaster dumps. Thats it.

Got to get a few more things on the car and learn to actually drive. Oh and the damn tree has been replaced w/ LEDs instead of bulbs, yes it is more accurate but I still hate it.

I am thinking of doing gears next but I need to find out what I have in the car. I am leaning torward 3.55's but maybe 3.73's. If I could hit the end of the track close to red line in 3rd I should pull off a 8.9X run if I can get traction under control.

Any thoughts?

I have 4:10s and my best is a 8.71 and that is the engine hitting the limiter at the end of third.

I say go for the 3:73s and drag radials and you will have your 8.9

Just a simple questions with only those mods why do you have 24lbs injectors. I would start by taking the 24lbs injectors off along with the mass airflow sensor and the tb. I would sell all of that stuff and get you a set of gears installed. also you should be running 8.9 now just as your car sits. I am assuming you are talking about the 03 gt.

With 4.10's in a manual will i have to shift out of 3rd in the 1/8? someone posted above that you hit the rev limiter..was it a tap or did you keep pegging it?

I know i can trap 100+ in the 1/4 without shifting out of third (with my old stock 3.27's)..what rpm will i be crossing the trap at in 4th with the 4.10s in the 1/4? Im getting them in on the 25th, and will be heading to the track once they are broken in.

Like I said..it is a loong story. One that involves a Ford dealership, stoopid service center, and dirty gas. Oh and a brand new car w/ 200mi.

Honestly I don't see a problem w/ the mods on the car. The old pink injectors were only 21lbs so I'm upped w/ 3lbs. I believe most of it is the driving and the gears.

I have never heard of a mustang coming from the factory with 21 lbs injectors. you should have 19 lbs injectors. also that 3lbs is a big difference. That 3lbs will make your car run rich. about the other mods. The tb if nothing else made you lose hp. Why did you change out the maf. the stock one is capable of a lot of hp before you will peg out the 5 volts and you stock one is an 80mm. an aftermarket maf only tricks the computer. it tells the computer something difference than what it is actually reading. It can cause the car to run rich or really lean depending on how bad the maf sensor. c&l is one of the worst maf.

Well mine came from the factory w/ pink 21lb injectors, I have seen others on this board that have run into similar situations. Anyhow I had to swap the maf out for the larger injectors. After I bought the car one of the injectors got clogged and the service dept. replaced it w/ an orangish 19lb injector. So I have a car full of 21lb injectors and a lone 19lb injector. Ford wouldn't work w/ me on this so my brother in-law had a set of brand new 24lbs around w/ the maf so it was as simple as bolting them in. The TB wasn't a big deal, actually it was just an afterthought. The car has actually run great and a noticeable improvement at speed. Perhaps I am just the exception? Oh and I forgot to mention that the tires are Khumos 17x9 wheels.
