How hard is it to remove the rear seats on a vert? Is there a latch somewhere or are they bolted in?

Very easy -

Look under the front of the bottom of the seat and you will seat a plastic latch - push in on this (Each side - passenger & driver side) and the bottom of the seat will lift out. You will have to push the seat belts through and refeed once you insert again. You will need a 13MM socket and remove the two bolts holding in the back of the seat - should see them once bottom is removed. Once those are out you can lift up on the back of the seat - it hangs with a couple of tabs, and lift out. Not hard at all - took mine out to wire light bar and will be taking out to wire up nitrous remote bottle opener and heater. You will see the tops motor and the plate that the top rest on when down. You can access the trunk but not much room beween the plate. Hope this helps.

Is the Coupe the same basic configuration? I've had the bottom out before but not the seat back.

Looking at removing the seats is probably more for weight reduction in a track situation...

Hawk5252 nailed it. Takes a matter of 5 minutes to remove. The bottom pops out and the 2 seat backs are held in by a bolt on each outter corner and slide off a bracket in the center. In my coupe, all 3 pieces weigh about 22 lbs.
