reinstalling driveshaft

does it matter if its not put in the same way it came out? and if so how can i know if its in the right spot? i marked it whan i took it out but one of my marks got ruined so now i cant tell!

I have always heard it is best to install it in the same positon that it was removed. I don't know the only time I have removed mine I replaced it with a FMS aluminum so it didn't matter. I know quite a few people that never mark them and haven't heard them complain.

should just bolt right back up, slip in yoke and tha four bolts on tha rear diff

they are dynamically balanced from the factory. you might have vibration issues. if so, try moving it and try again.

drive shaft alignment

The marks on the pinion yoke flange ( were the driveshaft bolts on the rear axle) should have a impression were the drive shaft has been riding. align the rear of the driveshaft with the square marks and the half moon marks . The transmission end of the driveshaft doesn't matter!

i agree with transman. the stock yoke had an alignment mark on it as well as the driveshaft. these may not be visible after years of driving. i have installed them many different ways without any vibration issues....

How can they balance it in the factory when its connected to the diff......doesn't seem right. Where did you hear this?

Are you sure the marks on the end of the driveshaft aren't to signify that it had been torqued at the factory (for the workers knowledge). They do that you know.

I think when new, it doesn't really matter, but after 100,000 miles of abuse, the drive shaft will bend, get crap stuck on it and what not. If you experience vibration, you will just need to keep rotating the thing as you reinstall it. GL
