I'll bite--how were they attached? Tape?

My 1962 Bug had the seat tracks tack welded to the floor pan. Some of the welds failed and the seat literally just fell backwards with me in it! I got some angle iron, drilled 4 holes into the pan and clamped the seat rails to the pan. It was a pain to adjust though, had to loosen the bolts to slide the seat rails, but that wasn't very often.
