I'm considering replacing the round 40th anniversary emblem with a GT emblem. How easy do those things come off? Does it leave a mark, or will the GT emblem cover it up? Thanks.

Dental floss and then rubbing alcohol will get it off. There are holes that will be covered by your new emblem. Only possible problem is the paint may be faded around the old emblem shape so there may be a subtle color change.

When I took my GT emblems off there was a little bit of scratching under them, but the new emblems cover that up. It's not hard at all to get the emblems off, tho.

I was thinking of replacing my GT with a 4.6 or 5.0 (obviously dependant on if I increase displacement) Are the emblems glued and screwed?

I thought about shaving the emblems completely, but there are too many holes, how would you fill them?

They are glued. I have a 2001 GT and it's currently being custom painted at a body shop, so I was able to get some pictures of one of the side emblems as well as its location on left side of the car (disregard the fine clearcoat scratches on the picture; the car still has to be cut and polished).

they are glued on. I took mine off with a heat gun and a plastic puddyscraper. Worked like a charm.

The GT emblems on the side have 2 vertical alignment holes as shown by Serviator, held on by two way stick tape.

The rear trunk GT emblem is only held on by two way stick tape, no alignment holes.

The rear trunk Ford emblem is also held on by two way stick tape but also has horizontal alignment holes.

I hated my 40th badges so I put the pony emblems on the side and put the Explorer V8 logo on the back where the GT was.

Me too

The GT emblems are ugly. I was debating using the 40th emblems on my car but it's a 2003 not a 2004....so I just went with V6 running pony emblems on the side. For the rear, i used an explorer "V8" emblem instead.
