If you are just wanting to clear the memory from a temporary CEL or ECM code you can disconnect the negative battery terminal, then go pump the brakes a couple times. Then re-connect the battery.
Not sure. I believe it depends on whether it's a hard or soft code. Some can be cleared by just removing power from the ECM. Others have to be manually reset using a special scan tool. I definitely won't hurt anything to try though.
