So I went out to the 1/4 mile at the Texas Motorplex yesterday. Ran a new best 60', 1/8 mile, and 1/4 mile, so it was a pretty good day. My second to last run I was lined up to run against some old Camaro who looked to be a 10 or 11 second car. Well, he ended up getting towed off the track for some reason, so they brought up the next guy in line....a rail. I couldn't believe it, but they actually let me race the guy.

He let off after passing the 1/8 mile mark, and crossed the 1/4 mile in 6.949 seconds. My high-12-second Mustang was feeling a little inadequate.

Here's the timeslip info:

.............. LEFT (him) ......... RIGHT (me)

R/T .......... 0.060 ................. 0.205
60' .......... 0.952 ................. 1.762
330 ......... 2.603 ................. 5.352
1/8 .......... 3.991 ................. 8.337
MPH ....... 175.94 ................ 83.61
1000 ....... 5.420 ................ 10.906
1/4 .......... 6.949 ................ 13.040
MPH ....... 135.35 ................ 106.13

I'll never forget that.

Wish I had a 60' time like than

EDIT: I have onlt been to the track out here once and my GF left the window open before we left while I was talking to this guy with the sweetest Fox I ever saw and the time slips blew away off my dash Anyway I used to race ALOT in Maui and I guess our track was different cause if your RT was below .400 (street) .200 (pro tree) you red light. I remember cause I got $50 once for cutting a perfect light and it was .400

You can ask for the next round ya know, the one time i went against a sub 11 second car half way down the track he was almost sideways in my lane. Good thing my car was slow enough that he was pretty far down the track when it happened.

im guessing its an expression for a top fuel dragster/funny car/etc.

so he went 175 at the 1/8 and 135 at the 1/4 mile mark? did he shut down half track?

you guys need to get to the drag strip more...

a rail is a single seat, open tired, drag car...it can be front or rear engined and could have anything from a Briggs and Stratton to a 8000HP nitro burning hemi...also know as a dragster
