Why?

If you are going to go that hardcore with a roll cage, why not just start with a tubular chasis and be done with it?

I dont really have the money to do a tubular chassis. I already have all the suspension for it. I dont really have the means to adapt all of it over. I just want to see it there are clearance issues, with master, or the hood hinges.

go to corner-carvers.com

and look for the thread "chassis under a 65". SN65 on there (of Stangnet fame) is looking for the best way to reinforce a '65 without going to a full tubular chassis. A lot of his ideas are very interesting and you can lift part or all of them. I think he has some sort of support going to the top of the shock towers . . . ok, just got rid of my lazy and went and got the drawing of his mock up:

might give you some ideas. He is doing a lot a la Mustangs Plus Reinforcement Kit (sheet metal) to reinforce the rockers and tie them in to subframe connectors, so imagine a much stronger structure underneath. I don't know if he's doing a full roll cage inside - these photos would suggest no.

Might want to check out the June 2006 issue of Super Rod magazine. There is a 65 coupe wearing some serious meats that has a nice cage install.

Also this link might help
