Sean Michael Ewas, a local mustang enthusiast died unexpectedly when a front spring he was changing shot from the car and hit him. At minimum, chain the spring to the frame with a bicycle chain and certainly don't attempt this by yourself. Always have someone close when you are doing anything of this nature.

Thats tragic. His family is in my prayers.

This should be a reminder to everyone out there that works on cars. Know what your dealing with before you start anything. Be careful !

Now I know why my father-in-law was so nervous when we did my front springs. He told me that those things could kill you if they came flying out, but I thougt he was exaggerating.

Rest In Peace.

What a tragic thing to have happen. My sympathy to the family. This process has also scared me in the past. I have actually seen the threads stretch on the spring compression tool after use. The stored energy there is just unreal. Thanks for the reminder to all.
