got into an accident last week, and new a new front and back bumper, quarter panel, and passenger's side taillight.. so i was thinking of just saying the hell with it ang getting the saleen kit. But the thing is, i dont want the back of the car to say SALEEN. How hard would it be to fill that in if the bumper was fiberglass? because i dont think you can do that to a urethane kit, can you? Anyone have any clue on pricing to do this or anything? And if anyone knows where i can find a 1/4 panel that would be nice.

Thanks!

I had the kit on my 01' and left the Saleen showing. I was also cloning a real one, which is OK as long as you don't pass it off as real.

not all people aren't trying to impersonate a saleen... some just don't like to have the saleen name on them.

i personally don't want anything on my car to say saleen, even though their cars are amazing...

I have a Saleen front that came off of a wrecked car. The car was fixed with a new bumper cover. There is onle a small tear in it that is easily fixed, infact my body man said he would repair, prep and paint it for me for the same price he would ask to prep and paint! I am in no hurry to sell it, cause if I damage mine I have a replacement. PM me if you want to talk about it

I was in the same situation as you. I got in an accident and messed up both bumpers and a front quarterpanel. I got the whole Saleen kit with the center exit exhaust. I didn't fill the Saleen on the back bumper but I filled all the emblem holes. Its definitely possible to fill it in. I don't know about fiberglass though.

Yea a good body shop can easily fill the bumper. Make sure the use a urethane compound and not bondo.

Mine was filled after it was "ruffed up" with a grinder, then a woven tape (looked like dry wall tape) was applied so the material could bond better. The the urethane fill material (binary mixture applied with something akin to a caulk gun) was added to the COBRA letters, smoothed out (with a credit card sized piece of plastic), left to dry for a few moments, then it was taken down with a grinder, hand sanded, cleaned, prepped, primed, and painted.

Hmmmmmmm....The picture shows in the post when previewed, but not when it's actually posted????

Edit;
Hmmmmmm.... even weirder, that pics shows up from the link I click on when I get my email notification (Hotmail opens another portal to view this thread).
I guess they want us to upgrade to Goldmembers so we can see these automatically ???

The shop is actually in O.C., Westminster to be exact.

The work was done by Pete Santini of Santini's Paint and Body.
Pete has worked on more cover/calender cars/bikes than you can shake a stick at. The shop is also reasonably priced considering the quality of work. Well worth the drive without a doubt.

Check the link in my signature for more pictures and if you like the work I'll get you the contact info.

Chicane is great. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my mechanical work.

Joe at Chicane did the original mods to the stock exhaust when I had the torque arm installed....and it was a great job. No leaks, no problems, no issues.

The first set of MagnaFlows was put on by a shop in Lomita....very poorly. I then went to the guy that Joe originally recommended and am extremely happy. I had Tom Morse (Morse Muffler) TIG welded for a cleaner look and it is a superb job.

Joe does the installation of exhaust systems at the shop, but he recommended Morse Muffler as I needed mods on the system for the panhard bar and torque arm.

Warning! Saleen=Poor Quality. I know, twice now. The prep work required is ridiculous compared to a normal bumper cover, and fit is also horrible.

could always hit... http://www.mrbodykit.com/bodykits/99mustang.htm

The "Saleen" kit doesnt say "Saleen" on the back, not really sure what the quality is like, but from what everyone says about the authentic saleen kit, cant be TOO much worse & its way cheaper....
