I just finished competetion in the SCCA Runoffs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After a 13 year hiatus from wheel to wheel racing (unless you count a couple Figure 8 Schoolbus Races!), I bought a 2006 Mustang that had been raced previously, competed in the races I needed to qualify, and ran at Indy.

In my class, T4, we are restricted on what we can do. My car has the Ford Motorsports suspension kit, open exhaust behind the cats, a 50mm restrictor plate (as required by the rules), and a retuned ECU. It is about 50 lbs over the minumum weight.

If you'd like the full story, all my exploits are here: http://forum.ovr-scca.org/index.php?topic=3083.0

The highlights:
  • Qualifying and such went clean. Qualified 31st / 40.
  • Race went well. Passed some cars, had a clean race. Finished 24th.

It was really an experience of a lifetime. Big fun. Can't wait to race again next year.
