Yum.... BJ's... good choice!

I believe they take reservations for large parties/events. I'm assuming this is already set?

If we can get some solid commitments before hand, then we’ll make the reservation. By the end of the day, you never know how many people are up for it.

We'll miss you, Shaun.

We aren't really talking about a huge crowd here. Dennis last year it was Todd,Dave you and i at our table. And another table had a few people.
Its a tough call and at the end of the day its hard to say. I will probably head over after the show and check out the Saleen Store on my way home since
its been a year or so that i have been to Irvine.

That is correct. Last year there were not many people but the year before about twenty people got together.

That's a good point. It is a long day at Saleen... but this is BJ's. I salivate at the thought of their beers.

BJ's is a great place to get out of the sun, cool off, quench the thirst and squelch the hunger.

Usually my wife & I head straight home to San Diego after the Saleen show for dinner @ the local BJ's or Islands right around the corner from our house.

But since the after-show dinner is going to be held @ the "other" BJ's location, we've already made our reservations @ the Spectrum Marriott.

Should be a good time. Looking forward to it.

Todd,

No head count yet. Some SCOA members who do not frequent the boards will just show up. Plus lots of non-SCOA members who are friends/acquaintances of the club will be there as well. It should be a good turn out.

It looks like my son is going to make it down to the show with me as well. He is interested in the caravan to BJ'S after. I may have to see the Saleen Store on another visit down to Irvine. I am surprised nobody from SCOA has really said much about the store

The store is well designed (great looking interior and cars, well put together displays). They have an SC coupe with the scenic roof on a turntable, an S7 right in the middle when you first walk in, and a yellow E split right down the middle. The split car is the best feature imo and worth checking out. You'll see the S7 and other cars at the show so other than picking up some swag and checking out the split car I don't know what else you'd get out of going to the store.

All these places are very close together. I bet you could sneak over to the store right after the show and still make it to BJs for dinner (show ends at 4pm)

If you want a "true" BJ's experience you need to go to the one in Laguna Beach right off main beach on PCH. That's the only one that truly matters. Of course I recommend ordering your food to go and eating it on the beach at sunset

Dotbomb,

Thanks for the reply. What you said sounds about right.
It doesn't sound like i am missing anything. I saw the
pictures on Mustang World and its probably enough.

Since the Saleen Store is so close, you could stop by during the show if someone can give you a ride. Or cut out during the trophies and one of us will accept yours on your behalf.

I would try to go to the Saleen Store if in the area but wouldn’t bother making a pilgrimage there. It looks pretty but there isn’t much there that you have not seen already.

Well, if you want to get snobby about it, their La Jolla/San Diego location is one of their original seven CA stores. It's been in existence for 20+ years & I've been dining there when it was still just a pizzeria with the typical 80's Miami Vice pastel colored decor. Now its also a microbrewery with a more rustic interior but the pizzas are still great as are the beers.

If you ever visited their facility @ 9 Whatney, then you've seen the Saleen Store. The latter is pretty much a duplicate of the former, only much larger & swankier. Others have already provided the detail differences, but the two showrooms are essentially identical except for size.

The primary detriment is that the Store doesn't offer the parts selection as did the Whatney facility.

The Store is focused primarily on apparel & soft items as opposed to hard parts that appeal to the enthusiast instead of the wannabes.

I have been to the store at the Whatney location so i have idea on what to expect minus the cars. Thanks for describing it.

Dennis: your post had me laughing, its possible a couple of Faleens will enter our class and win the trophies or some unknown Saleens we don't know with twin turbos will debut. Its always interesting.

Ah La Jolla... next time I'm down there I'll have to stop by that location. That part of the coast is amazing too
