Good question.

IIRC all mustangs after 1967 would have had them, though I might be wrong.

My 67 has them.

I though it was all mustangs 66 & later were required to have them.

chelle: I think it was '67 and later, but I've been wrong before. Either or, if you have '67 or latermustang then you should have seatbelts, if you don't there is an issue.

chelle: I just looked a pic of your car's seat belts, maybe they were different from '67 to '68 (I doubt it) buuuuuut yours are not even similar to mine. One of us isn't stock methinks.

Seat belts were Federally mandated for the 1966 Model year....so you are wrong.

It is a production anomoly....sometimes they ran out at the factory and they were supposed to be dealer installed.....but some slipped though the cracks.

I believe they were options prior to 68. But in 68 they became standard equipment along with smog control, and other safety/quality requirements thanks to Ralph Nader.

Required after '66 I believe. Anyway my '67 coupe, which came with only the 289 and an AM radio as options when my grandparents bought it, has seat belts in all four places. The rears would not require much work for someone to have removed; they don't have retractors or anything, just four bolts holding four strips of webbing in place, with the adjustment at the buckle.
