I'm doing things a little different. I am turning 50 and my midlife crisis is to get rid of my hot rod. I really don't know how much to ask for it. It is a 65 Mustang coupe, Mercedes white w/ blue pearl. 289,TFS heads ported & polished,Edlebrock performer RPM intake.edlebrock carb ,all MSD electronics inc billet dist,Griffin radiator,new A/C w/polished Sanden comp,1 wire polished 3g alt (Appx 100k on engine),lowered to Shelby specs,all global west susp w/ konis Vintage 45 wheels,Baer front discs cross drilled slotted, polished calipers,flaming river steering box,new toploader,new 8" limited slip rearend ect ect. What would be a fair price? I would like to get rid of it quickly.

you should be able to get a pretty penny for that. Sounds like all the mods are done that allmost anyone would want, and then some.
my brother in law just paid 6k for a bone stock 65 that needed engine work,brakes, radiator .
Im sure yours is worth at least double that +++ as a starting point. Id check your local autotrader or ebay, see if you can find one similar.

I cant afford it, and dont need a third car , but if your desperate and want to donate it to my stable I'll put you on my Christmas card list.

The ultimate TRUTH is:

What your car is "worth" depends on how long you are willing to wait and what exposure that you give it in the market. The BUYER alone will determine the price at which the car actually sells.

Your car sound desireable/marketable but without actually seeing it, any price suggested here is only speculation. Appraisal by a Mustang authority would be a good basis to establish a starting price. Forget about how much that you have into the car; RARELY is anything close to that amount realized in actuality.

I too am a long time Mustang owner but am older than you. People "offer" to buy my car ALL THE TIME. NEVER have they even come close to even it's appraisal value. (Not that I'd sell it even if they did.)

Start with an appraisal and then plan a strategy. E-bay can yeild results. If your car is truely exceptional, word of mouth can bring interest as well. Realize that lots of people may be "interested" but those who actually have the MONEY are hard to find.

I just want a rough idea of what a fair price would be . I'm not going to squabble to much over the price. I just want get rid of it. Thanks for all of your ideas. I will check them out....

dave, is the engine worn out with 100k miles, is it in need of a rebuild?
How does it run?
burn oil?
any weird noises?
run hot?
Hold old is the paint, etc..
what else can you tell us to help you out.

please post some pics, I might be able to help you out.

The engine is very strong. It doesnt burn or leak any oil. Paint is pretty nice. It needs to be color sanded and the bottom of the rocker panels have some chips. They need to be repainted. The interior is in pretty good shape but could be redone. I have put off doing it cause I'm not sure if I will go stock or upgrade to hiback seats. I am having the A/C charged for the first time tomorrow so I will take some pictures of it. Thing is that I will never be finished with it. Always something else to upgrade.

how about a solid 25k? if your not desperate to sell it then you should start kinda high and when someone comes along willing to buy your baby, let it be.

ITS A COUPE...I say start at 16K so you do not price yourself out of the market.
