I don't know what happened yet, but i was driving a couple of days ago and my motor blew. My balancer looks like it moved forward about 2 inches (took out a small peice of the water pump). I can see the bottom of my timing chain. The oil pan is cracked, something hit it in the very front of it. It will be hard for me to work in my messy garage (sellin the house) but I figure I should pull the plugs to see if there is any valve damage.
Assuming that the Lower End and Block are toasted, where should i go for a block, either 302 or 306 (either way it is going to be a 306) and a fully forged lower end. I am thinking about a 331 more than a 347, but what company should I go with. It will no longer be the daily driver, but I am still going to be on an average 20 budget ( moving out by fall). Oh yah, I am in cali. some how it has to pass smog in January.
