Hey guys I got 1.7 roller rockers on my gt 40 heads I just installed them and tourqed them to specs but my car sounds like a sewing machine when its running. Is this just wearing them in and it will go away or something else ?

get used it, damn near every roller rocker car ive heard has had substantial valve train noise. As long as the torque procedures/specs were followed i dont think you have anything to worry about

there's no valve train noise from my car and its a roller motor!! there shouldn't be that much noise! once your lifters pump up with oil again there shouldn't be any noise! how tight did you tighten them? what procedure did you use?

Also depends on what brand you got (cheaper = more noise from my experience) I am running Crane 1.7s atm and they still make a little noise but its not NEAR as bad as those lousy proforms were that came in it.

I tightened mine to 20 ftlbs. Think they will be quieter if I go to 21-22?

You could torque them to 1000 ft/lbs and it wouldn't make a difference at all because torqueing them more won't make any tolerances any closer.

I just readjusted all my rockers since one adjusting nut had backed off while driving ahh, at first a few were making noise but after going for a drive they quieted down alot once they got fully pumped up.

the original poster has pedestal mount...is the roller tip centered on the valve? you might need longer pushrods and some shims
