i bought my car with the upper and lower intake off. the guy said the car ran when he took it apart to fix the noise he heard in the engine.he said he fixed it. he said all i have to do is put it back together and i will run. now my big question i wantto see if it turns over before i go and put everything back together. i heard if you just put a wrench on the nut on the bottom pulley and turn it that means it will turn over. anyone know what size socket?

from the way i look at things it looks maybe it didnt and he bought it and got in over his head. theres alike a 1/4 inch of grease towads the back of the engine but i dont know what from. any help would be highly appreciated.

I think it is a 15/16" socket stock, yes if the car is out of gear or in Neutral you can turn it over.

EDITED POST IT IS A 15/16" SOCKET

I would be careful about buying a car that you cann't hear run. You are thinking correctly in the fact that it may not. I would find out what the noise ended up being and go from there. I would be worried about the fact that he isn't going the extra step just to put the intake back on and selling it as a running car. Be prepared for something else to be wrong with the car. Hopefully you are getting a real good deal on it.

just get a pipe wrench and put it on the lip of the crank pulley and pull up or push down. if you put auto tranny fluid in the cylinders, it will loosen up the pistons in there.

$1200 isn't horrible is the car is real clean. I still would have heard it running first. Do you have all the parts to finish it or do you have to buy stuff?

No offense but it hurts my eyes to TRY and read your post.

You may find others are more willing to help when you use correct spelling and grammar. Especially, when it comes to troubleshooting.

More important to the cost of rebuilding your engine is the knowledge required to do it properly. I'm not sure how much that costs.
