Keeping seats soft/supple

My brother uses saddle soap on his 04 Cobra and swears by it. I'm not sure where you get it and he sure as heck doesn't have a horse!

Saddle soap is a leather conditioner but if it works why stop? I was using meguiars gold class leather conditioner on the back seats and honestly I think it worked great. I recently switched over to meguiars vinyl treatment (rear seats are supposedly vinyl) but I cannot tell a difference between it and the leather treatment I was using before. So I I may switch back once I run out of the vinyl treatment.

I wouldn't put anything on them at all. Just tint your windows.

Just got off the phone with Ford customer service. They said that the back seats of the ICAP option, are indeed, leather.

Don't know about non-ICAP rear seats, though.

I think the rears are made of leather, the material seems to be identical to the fronts. Any which way, Meguiars leather wipes make em look great.

I do not have the ICAP and I can tell you my rear seats are most certainly NOT leather. The finish on one of them is starting to bubble and peel :damnit: . Real leather will not do that. I have to take it in now .

Aipaloovik, I work for Ford in Dearborn and we have several 05's in the shop right now. I had our resident seat guy look at the rear seats on the ones in the shop as well as my new 05. All of them had leather seats front and back. I think you must have gotten a bad seat.

Wow, that is quite surprising. I've seen this problem with vinyl before because it is usually painted and not dyed, but never on leather. I did leather cleaning, dying and repair for 2 years while I worked through college, so I've seen my fair share. I'll take your word for it, but as I said, I've never seen actual leather bubble.

wipe with a wet microfiber rag first to clean. dry with another microfiber. condition with any leather conditioner you're comfortable with. i use the meguiar's prodct bc it doesn't leave the leather all slimy and slippery. leather in my focus looks great using this method!

Follow up

Well, I treated all my seats yesterday with Griot's Leather Care. I can't tell ANY difference between the way the front seats reacted from the back seats. Maybe they're leather after all (although not very good quality). They look and feel nice and soft now too!
