I have a 88 5.0 with GT40 iron's cobra intake and my ? is that the exhuast smells up the car when i get on it so i thought it was running rich so i pulled the plugs and just the opposite they looked lean. Any ideas on what it might be?

Posting some info about your combo will help. About any car that does not run cats, for instance, will smell.

An exhaust analyzer and wideband are more accurate means of determining rich or lean conditions.

Code retrieval is the place to start however.

Good luck.

Once again Hissin is on to something! I used to have a permanent 93 octane cologne when I ran my o\r h-pipe daily, now that I run my catted h-pipe daily it's gone. That cats were the only change.

i do not have cats on it so maybe thats why it stinks. The owner before me cut of the turn down on the factory tail pipes so the exhuast just hits the bumper and lingers under the car. Would it help to put some back on?

Tail pipes that extend to the rear of the car are a must have. We all know that tail pipes are expensive, and if Ford could have saved a few $ by not putting them on, they would have done it.

Aside from that, cars without cats will often stink & smell up the interior of the car.
