Hey guys I just raced my friends stock 4.6 sn95 from a dig. As far as I know he only has lowering springs. I have a stock 90 mustang gt with only a timing advance on 93 gas and no exhaust past stock mid pipe. Im trying to figure out why I lost! I thought I was a bit lighter and we had the same power? It doesnt add up. The race was a blur but we both had wheelspin and then he took off on me. My version is I had more wheelspin and was still spinning a little bit when he gained control and I started to creep up a little bit but not enough to make up for that launch. But it was all blurry like a dream.

Nope smart guy nowhere did I specify if it was street or track. But I figured it out I have short gears on stock tires and suspension after a couple pulls today I realized I had no traction in first gear while wot. Thanks

Lol exactly I know! Im frustrated cuz its my coworker and I want to be the fastest in the company. I even removed center console and sound deadening for weight reduction. What I really need are tires or control arms

Man, you're talking about 1 tenth of a second. When 2 cars are that close, it's driver vs. driver. You got out driven. Race again and it may be the other way around. Also depending on your car, a '90 GT might weigh about the same as a SN95, they got up into the 3400lb range.

when cars are very nearly equal, the launch is everything, and whoever gets traction first usually wins. sometimes its better to drive off the line, and roll the throttle on as hard as you can without breaking the tires loose. then pull hard for second gear and drive it like you stole it.

a tenth tells me you lost it on the line.

When the coupe was mostly stock I raced pretty much everything under the sun. I won a lot of races I shouldn't have, but then my car only weighs 2800lbs.

It's a Mustang, its just a coupe which is lighter, plus carbed which is lighter, no AC or heat, no sound deadening, Corbeau seats that weigh half as much or less than factory, gutted trunk, manual windows, all in all it probably weighs less than 2800 now, I haven't weighed it since a lot of that was done.
